People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.” Audrey Hepburn
“Although she appeared in fewer films as her life went on, Hepburn devoted much of her later life to UNICEF. Her war-time struggles inspired her passion for humanitarian work and, although Hepburn had contributed to the organisation since the 1950s, she worked in some of the most profoundly disadvantaged communities of Africa, South America and Asia in the late eighties and early nineties. In 1992, Hepburn was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in recognition of her work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. In 1993, Hepburn died of appendiceal cancer at her home in Switzerland, aged 63.”Wikipedia -

“I’m pushing an elephant up the stairs
I’m tossing up punch lines that were never there
Over my shoulder a piano falls
Crashing to the ground
I’m breaking through
I’m bending spoons
I’m keeping flowers in full bloom
I’m looking for answers from the great beyond”http://www.npr.org/2011/09/22/140694858/rem-calls-its-quits-after-3-decades-of-making-music

I haven’t remembered my dreams in..well I can’t remember, but a long time. This week I’ve recalled a few, So it makes me happy to know that I still have an imagination in my sleep and can dream clever dreams. The best was that Billie O’neal was my brother in law instead of Alex and it had a very Son in Law premise. You can imagine.

I bought a meditation CD at borders before it closed that I like to play to and from work in the car sometimes. I’ve been feeling a lot anxiety lately and it helps more than anything else I’ve tried. My favorite exercises are the mindfulness track where you concentrate on your feelings, completely accepting them and feeling them. (this is sometimes overwhelming. I should probably not be operating a motor vehicle when I do this one!)The loving kindness track. It has this mantra you offer to yourself and then others “May I be safe, be happy, be healthy, live with ease.” And then you say it for someone dear to you and also someone thats “actions or words are difficult for you” and all beings and so on. And also the regs exercise where you only concentrate on breath is essential.

This dude made my day. That and the beer garden. I was in such a good mood in the middle of it I told Nick. “I love it here. I don’t want to move.” I’m sober now and I don’t know if I want to move or not, but it was a nice day and so sunny. A September Sun in Michigan is so pleasing. Not overbearing. After day drinking too many beers we went to Nick’s Parents and tried to act pretty sober while we ate dinner and played games. They gave me a children’s book about The Heidelberg project written by a Social Worker for my birthday, which is probably the most adorably thoughtful gift ever! It is also serendipitous, since I woke up and wrote a rough draft of my first children’s book this week. More about that latter…..(Click the photo for an explanation of the Heidelberg project)
